The design of the Vapor 2000 is based on the same proven and well-know fresh-gas dosage principle as Vapor 19.n:
The fresh-gas stream is split into the dosage path and bypass path.
The stream through the dosage path is directly controlled by the control dial, the stream through the bypass by a temperature compensating cone.
The gas flow is laminar over a wide flow range, and additional components compensate back pressure fluctuations from the breathing circuit.
In the Vapor 2000 an important function was added in order to inhibit intrusion of anesthetic agent into the dosage components during transport:
To lift the Vapor from the anesthesia system the control dial must be turned to a new "T" position.
In this position two additional valves tightly shut off the reservoir from all remaining parts. Tilting the Vapor 2000 upside down and heavy shaking during trasportation will not cause any problem.
