The GCS Control version contains an electronic control unit that monitors the system parameters:
Pressure sensors for source, medium and line pressure
The active source
Temperature sensor
The control unit provides complete alarm management, with output to several external alarm systems and an alarm log file with date and time stamp for every message.
The GCS supervises all pressures at the active and passive gas sources, which is necessary for the safe and continuous operation of the plant. If any pressure is below or above the nominal value, alarms are generated to ensure that no source is emptied unintentionally.
The control unit can optionally be equipped with a relay module that provides six relays for the transmission of the most important alarms using risk-free contacts.
In addition, the GCS can be integrated into the Dräger Alarm Management System. The optionally installed Alarm System Interface allows the transmission of all alarms to separate mounted LED or text monitors, such as the Dräger Monitor LLT.
Using a GMS-Gateway, all data may be transmitted to a LON-Works compatible Building Management System of the hospital.
From the compressed air system an exactly dosed sample of air flow is taken and continuously monitored for pollutants.
On the GCS itself, all measurement values, messages and alarms are shown on an illuminated graphical display in clear text in one of four languages. Every message is directly shown as a popup on the display and written to a log file for later review. Following standard EN ISO 7396-1, the alarm priority is indicated visually by colored LED and acoustically by a build-in horn. The display also shows the detailed clear structured menu for all information and settings of the GCS. Three foil buttons beside the display are used to browse through the menus to access various information and functions, including:
Display of operation pressure
Display of momentary delivering source.
Online instructions for cylinder change
Calculation of the expected reach of the active
Log file for all relevant system messages with date and time of occurrence
Service due reminder
System information
Settings for language, date and time, and illumination
Password-protected installation menu
The control unit is placed ergonomically at the lower part of the GCS and can be accessed easily without detaching the hood.
For connection of the sources and in the hospital, Dräger provides a wide range of high pressure armatures and accessories such as valves, collecting pipes, connection bends, cylinder holders, and extendible distributor blocks with shut-off valves and manometers for the distribution of the gas in the hospitals areas. Optionally, the configuration can be extended with gas type-specific emergency inlet points.
