The Infinity® CNAP™ (Continuous Noninvasive Arterial Pressure) SmartPod® is a noninvasive method of measuring continuous blood pressure. The Infinity® CNAP™ SmartPod® enables the Infinity Delta, Delta XL, and Kappa patient monitors to display beat-to-beat blood pressure values and a near real-time pressure waveform. This allows clinicians to assess one of the most important cardiovascular clinical parameters in nearly every care area, continuously, and without the risk of invasive methods.
Inflatable cuffs slipped over two of the patient’s fingers can detect pulsatile changes in the arteries, while integrated photoplethysmograph light emitting diodes sense blood volume. The SmartPod calculates beat-to-beat systolic, diastolic and mean blood pressures and then displays them in real time on the Infinity monitor. Using CNAP™ in conjunction with other continuous measurements, such as ECG and SpO2, can give you a comprehensive monitoring view of the patient’s cardiovascular function.
