Dräger Donates Equipment for Haiti
Dräger is responding to Haiti’s earthquake victims by donating 16 ventilators and two anesthesia machines to the University of Miami for use at a 300-bed field hospital, including operating room suites.

Dräger Wins “Best of Show” Exhibit Award at the 55th Annual AARC Congress
The medical division of Dräger is pleased to announce that it was awarded “Best in Show” exhibit at the 55th International Congress of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) held this past December in San Antonio, Texas. The AARC’s Congress is the nation’s largest gathering for members of the respiratory care community to share technical innovations and clinical advancements. Approximately 6,000 respiratory therapists, physicians, and other clinicians attend the show annually.

Dräger buys back Siemens stake in Dräger Medical AG & Co. KG
Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA, Lübeck, is to purchase the 25 percent minority stake in Dräger Medical AG & Co. KG held by Siemens AG, Munich. The Managing Board of Siemens AG approved the move, as did the corresponding bodies at Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA.

Telford, PA - Given the severity of the influenza season this year which includes the declaration of H1N1 as a national emergency, Dräger and Intensive Care On-line Network (ICON) have agreed to provide clinical services to any hospital managing an H1N1 patient on APRV or APRV-like ventilation (i.e. Bi-Vent, Bi-level, etc).

Dräger Initiates a Voluntary Device Recall of Stabilet
Telford, PA – Draeger Medical Inc. recommends the removal of Stabilet Infant Warmer models 200, 300, 1250, 1500, 200/3000, 2000, 2200/3200, 3000, and 3200 from service and replacing them with alternative warmers as soon as it is feasible.

The London Fire Department has placed a major order with Draeger for both breathing apparatus and monitoring systems. Fast, reliable detection of O2, H2S or CO with new Draeger single gas detectors
Pittsburgh, PA - - Draeger is expanding its family of single gas detectors with the launch of the Draeger Pac 3500 and Dräger Pac 5500. Designed for personal protection, these gas detectors measure the concentration of oxygen, carbon monoxide or hydrogen sulfide in the air. The Draeger Pac 3500 has a lifespan of approximately two years and the Draeger Pac 5500 has an indefinite lifespan with proper maintenance and servicing. Both instruments use minimal battery power and need low maintenance which results in a low cost of ownership.

Draeger Announces New Multi-Gas Plus Cartridge
Pittsburgh, PA - - Draeger is pleased to announce the introduction of the new Multi-Gas Plus cartridge to fit our X-plore 3300/3500/5500 twin filter masks. These cartridges are unique because they do not carry the “escape only” designation for H2S protection, and can be used to work in environments up to 100ppm (IDLH level), providing proper change out schedules and OSHA guidelines are followed (service life graphs are available). This cartridge utilizes the same low-profile, swept-back design and two-point bayonet connection as the other X-plore cartridges.

Superior Product Design
Not one, but two Dräger products received the iF product design award in 2009: The Ponta beam system and the Infinity C700 for IT workstation. A total of 2,808 products from 39 countries were submitted. The international selection committee awarded 802 labels for superior product design. These two medical devices were among the first Dräger products developed according to the company’s current design guidelines.

Dräger achieves revised forecast
On the basis of the provisional, unaudited financial statements, Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA has achieved the forecast revised as of December 12, 2008. Net sales rose by 5.8 percent to EUR 1,924.5 million (2007: EUR 1,819.5 million), EBIT (before non-recurring expenses) amounted to EUR 130.5 million (down 14 percent).

Dräger reviewing the buy-back of the Siemens stake in Dräger Medical AG & Co. KG
Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA (Dräger) is reviewing the buy-back of the 25 percent stake currently held by Siemens AG (Siemens) in Dräger Medical AG & Co. KG. This would increase the stake Dräger holds in the medical subsidiary to 100 percent. Dräger is currently involved in negotiations on funding.
